A Stroll Through Siena

Siena is a very beautiful city, and it is cleaner than any city I have ever been to. I would compare it to Disneyland as far as the cleanliness goes. Yesterday we met together as a group and walked around the city. We have not done this yet, and we have been in Siena a few weeks now!

We took a tour of San Domenico’s Basilica. This church was very simple compared to the Duomo of Siena. Years after the church was built, stain glass windows were added. I love stain glass…but these windows were really creepy. The figures had HUGE eyes…and crazy colored faces.

This church was also a little different because it held the HEAD of St. Catherine. St. Catherine is very popular in the Catholic religion. It was interesting to see her head, skin and all. It is said that her head is not preserved and it is a miracle that it has stayed in such good condition for hundred of years.

After, we visited the “oldest” bank in the WORLD. Well, that’s what the people of Siena like to say. It was very neat to see. This walk through Siena was fun. I can’t believe how old some of these buildings are! CRAZY STUFF!!
