Thursday morning we woke up and hurried out the door to go to Encinitas beach. It was literally 5 minutes away from their house. How lucky are they? After catching some rays and playing in the scary water (I am terrified of sharks), we ate lunch at a yummy cafe on Encinitas Blvd. After lunch we hurried back to the house and got ready for the concert. The concert was in a town called Chula Vista, California. It was an hour drive from Carlsbad. We got lost, but we made it to the concert right on time. It had already been a perfect day and we didn't know if it could get any better.... but then... COLDPLAY took the stage!! WOW!! They are such great performers. This concert was the BEST part of the trip. There were so many highlights, but one of the best parts was when the band sang "Billie Jean" by Michael Jackson. They did a great job! Michael Jackson songs played at the best concert EVER... it was a wonderful evening to say the least.
It's kind of hard to hear... but listen closely, it's Billie Jean!!
On Friday we woke up and drove to Coronado. We arrived at the beach and Matt realized he forgot his swimsuit. We searched the hotel Del for a swimming suit and the cheapest we could find was over 50 dollars. We decided to walk down the street and ended up finding a suit for a lot cheaper. After buying a swimming suit, we ate lunch and once again headed to the beach. It was a lot of fun. We then decided we wanted to walk around downtown San Diego. There was only one problem... we were very sandy and smelly, and we didn't want to drive all the way back to Carlsbad to get ready... in rush hour traffic. So, we needed to find a shower somewhere on the beach. We jumped in the car and found a nice little public shower on the side of the road. It was quite the experience. We washed all of the sand off and made a pit stop at Rite Aid to get some things to freshen up. Then... we were over the massive bridge to downtown San Diego.
Laying out on Coronado Beach
The rest of the night consisted of dinner in Seaport Village, walking, shopping, walking, picture taking, and more walking. By the end of the night we were ready to get home and go to bed.

Seaport Village
On Saturday, we drove to La Jolla and ate lunch at a place called George's. Matt's aunt and uncle highly recommended it, so we thought we would give it a try. It was a small restaruant located on the roof that overlooks the cove in La Jolla. It had a great view, but unfortunately we weren't sitting right on the edge. It was a fun atmoshphere though, the food was great as well. After lunch we headed to the beach! After a couple of hours in the sun we decided it was time to head back and take a shower.
Saturday night we had the great idea to go to a San Diego Padres baseball game. We thought this would be one last shabang for our trip... but our plans changed a little when we were confronted by a lovely ticket scalper. We arrived at the Petco Stadium excited for a night of baseball. We approached the gate and we were soon informed that all tickets under $22 were sold out. We stood aside from the line and talked about whether or not it was worth it... when out of nowhere we heard a voice, "you guys lookin for tickets." A short woman holding tickets told us she would give us the tickets for whatever we would give her. BUT... we had to leave the property because there were cameras. She took us across the street and into a parking garage. It was sketchy.... very sketchy. To make a long story short, we ended up giving the lady $20 dollars for what we thought looked like good tickets. Welp, one of the tickets worked, the other ticket had already been used and required a stamp and re-entry wristband to be used again. We had the stamp... but no wristband. Yep... we gave $20 dollars to a homeless woman. ha. ha. Never again will we be ripped of by scalpers. It is something to laugh about now, but at the time we were a little bugged.

That night we walked around the Gas Lamp District a little more, and then headed back to Carlsbad making a pit stop at In- N-Out burger. Eating that burger, fries, and strawberry shake made us feel much better. The trip was complete now, and we could fly home happy.
This was such a fun trip. We made so many fun memories, and had a rockin time at the Coldplay concert!
